Caring for your fabric
Always wash cool, if the garment/fabric is really dirty a presoak should help. Never bleach and don’t use alkaline or overly fragrant detergents, I always use Smol’s unscented capsules. High washing temperatures and fabric conditioners will deteriorate the print quality over time. We suggest you care for your garments gently, wash on a cool setting, line dry in a shady spot and don't tumble dry. The planet will thank you and your textiles will look newer for longer (although we do love a lived in textile) if looked after properly your textiles will live a long time!
Once line or air dried, a steamer or iron on a medium setting should smooth out any creases. Although pre washed at printing phase I always expect a fabric to shrink between 1-3%, especially on natural fibres such as linen so bear this in mind.
All Ornette fabric is digitally printed which is a surface print, although it permeates the fabric fluffy yarns such as linen get rolled over when printed and when they recover they sometimes leave tiny unprinted flecks in their wake, it’s completely normal and doesn’t deteriorate any further. With time printed textiles, along with any other kind of garment made from natural fabrics will wear but personally I think it only adds to it’s look and feel. I have worn, washed and lived with every fabric before putting it into the collection and you can expect only the best fabric quality.
Lampshades. If you find dirt on your lampshade try rolling with a soft lint roller to remove dust and then gently spot clean being careful not to scrub as this will pill the natural fibres, making sure the lampshade is never in exposed sunlight as this will bleach the natural print dyes over time.
